When someone types "best plumber near me" or "dentist in Austin TX," they're ready to book. If your business doesn't appear in those results, you're invisible to your most valuable potential customers. Local SEO fixes that — and most of it is free.

Step 1: Claim and Complete Your Google Business Profile

A citation is any online mention of your business name and address. Getting listed on local directories (Yelp, Angi, Houzz, TripAdvisor — depending on your industry) tells Google you're a real, established local business. Aim for 20-30 accurate citations in your first month.

Step 5: Earn Reviews (and Respond to All of Them)

Reviews are both a ranking signal and a conversion tool. A business with 50 four-star reviews beats one with 3 five-star reviews in both trust and rankings. Ask every happy customer to leave a review. Make it easy: send them a direct link to your Google review page. And respond to every review — even bad ones.
