Membership

Failed DD should block the door.

Membership club operations software should make access, class capacity, and direct debit agree on one member. If frozen people still sit on yoga, the fob list was never the record.

The problem

Access lives on a fob list. Classes live on a clipboard. Direct debit lives in the bank app. Freezes live in a drawer. Reception spends the evening reconstructing who should have been on the bike.

People with a failed DD still hold a class. Frozen members still sit on the roster. Sales sells through a notice period because the desk can override the door with a smile. Retail rings on a till that does not know the member.

The member is the object. Access, class, DD, and freeze agree. Desk cannot override the door from a smile. A freeze clears the roster and pauses the debit. If a gym platform already does that for how you actually run, we will say so.

What a custom system holds

  • Door rules from money, not a separate fob list
  • Classes that cannot oversell
  • Freeze that clears the roster and pauses DD
  • Failed DD as a stop at the door
  • Retail on the member, not a separate till

Questions

Should a failed direct debit block the club door?
Yes, if access, class capacity, and money are the same member. A freeze should clear the roster. The desk should not override the door from a smile.
How does a custom build start?
A twenty-minute discovery call. We watch how work, stock, and money move — including the exceptions a template never modelled. Then a written scope. If a packaged product already covers it, we will say so.
Where are you based, and who do you work with?
Metalique Studios is a UK software company based in Chigwell, Essex. We build custom operations software for UK hire companies, workshops, field teams, and other ops-heavy SMEs — in the language those floors already use. See the UK page.

If the door, the roster, and the bank still disagree at reception, a discovery call is the right next step — then a written scope.
